The BCCO Board of Directors is in charge of organizing all aspects of chorus life, including rehearsals, the concerts, and extra programs, such as the Fall singers’ retreat and other workshops. We also discuss and approve the musical repertoire, in collaboration with the Music Director.
The Board approves the BCCO budget and sets the compensation for the Music Director and the Chorus Manager as well as our rehearsal accompanists, soloists and orchestra members. A major effort of the Board is to raise the funds to allow the BCCO to offer concerts that are free to the public. Board members are elected from among chorus members by the Board according to procedures laid out in Bylaws.
Board members have generally been singing with the chorus for some time and have demonstrated enthusiasm for and commitment to the BCCO in multiple ways. In addition, Board members frequently contribute a certain expertise to the organization. The Board is concerned about cultivating the extraordinary volunteer spirit that keeps BCCO running smoothly. We endeavor to make our processes transparent and we always welcome ideas and suggestions from chorus members.
Meetings of the BCCO Board of Directors are open to all chorus members and generally held on the fourth Thursday of every month. They begin at 7:00 pm at the home of a Board member.
Locations are announced in the Chorus Notes and at rehearsals.
